The move to Lech Poznań in July 2008 was the first real elevation, two seasons at one of Poland's genuine heavyweights, and it functioned as the bridge everything else was built on. By the summer of 2010 he was gone from Poland altogether, and he has never played there since. Borussia Dortmund signed him in July 2010, and the four years that followed in the Bundesliga turned a promising Polish forward into one of Europe's most feared centre-forwards. Dortmund in that era was a club built on intensity, fast transitions and a relentless press, and a nine who could lead the line alone, hold the ball, and finish with either foot was the perfect final piece.

What came next was unusual even by elite standards: in July 2014, Lewandowski moved directly from Dortmund to Bayern Munich, crossing the most fiercely contested rivalry in German football. He stayed eight years. That is the true spine of this career — 2014 to 2022 at Bayern, an extended prime spent as the focal point of the Bundesliga's dominant side, scoring at a rate that inflated his career totals into the territory reserved for the sport's genuine all-time goalscorers. Twelve consecutive seasons in Germany, across the two clubs, gave him a familiarity with one league that few foreign forwards ever achieve.

The Barcelona chapter opened in July 2022, when he left the Bundesliga for La Liga at an age when most strikers begin managing their decline rather than changing countries. It was his third nation, his third league, and a very different tactical environment — Spanish football's emphasis on possession and positional play asking new questions of a forward long accustomed to German rhythms. He remains active there.

His career has also taken in Major League Soccer, adding a fourth competition to the list and a further stamp in a passport already crowded with Poland, Germany and Spain. The through-line is consistency: a forward who arrived from the Polish lower leagues and simply never stopped scoring, in every league that asked him to.
